San Rafael

SAN RAFAEL REAL ESTATE

San Rafael is the headquarters for entertainment and technology in Marin. After George Lucas founded Lucasfilm in 1971, San Rafael became the center for high-tech elements of the entertainment business. It’s natural beauty coupled with man made designs have made it an attractive filming location, with beloved movies such as American Graffiti, THX 1138, and Gattaca set here.

Downtown San Rafael overflows with restaraunts, shopping, and nightlife. Spanish mission buildings can be seen throughout San Rafael one dating as far back as 1817. San Rafael is also home to the Marin County Civic Center, the only public building ever designed by Frank Llyod Wright.

PUBLIC SCHOOLS IN SAN RAFAEL

The multicultural community of San Rafael is served by two school districts.

San Rafael City Schools consist of six elementary school, one middle school, a combination elementary/middle school, two comprehensive high schools, a continuation high school, and an independent study high school.

Dixie School District consists of four schools including Dixie Elementary, Mary Silveira Elementary, Miller Creek Middle School, and Vallecito Elementary.

Bahia Vista Elementary School

Grades K-5
Bahia Vista School consists of a multicultural population of students, many of whom are English Language Learners. The school offers additional educational support, recreational activities, and childcare to students and their families.

San Pedro Elementary School is located east of downtown San Rafael. It serves the communities east of Highway 101 and the area south of the San Rafael Canal. The staff of San Pedro School is dedicated to meeting the needs of the school’s many English language learners and helping them achieve high academic goals.

Previously known as the Gallinas School, Venetia Valley School is located near the Civic Center and provides educational services to the communities of Los Ranchitos and Santa Venetia. Venetia Valley School was declared a California Distinguished School in 1995.

Madrone Continuation High School

The majority of students at Madrone are behind in credits and are in danger of not graduating with their class. Students must be at least sixteen years old and have attended at least one year at a comprehensive high school. Madrone has open enrollment throughout the school year and is considered to have full enrollment when our student population reaches seventy.

Montessori De Terra Linda

Montessori de Terra Linda offers three primary classes lasting for a three year period. Upon the third year a child would begin kindergarten. After completion of the kindergarten year students move to the elementary program that is divided into two multi-age classes. Six to nine year olds are in the lower elementary class while children nine to twelve attend the upper elementary program.

Saint Isabella Elementary School

Core subjects include math, science, religion, reading, language arts (writing, grammar, spelling) social studies, computer technology, Spanish, and physical education. In addition, Saint Isabella Elementary School provides music, art, and drama as components of their fine arts curriculum.
