Kentfield

KENTFIELD REAL ESTATE

Located just north of Greenbrae and adjacent to the town of Ross, Kentfield is an idyllic, residential town located at the base of Mt. Tamalpais Baltimore Canyon Preserve and Creek side Park are both located nearby providing wonderful places to ride bikes and hike on scenic trails.

The weather is warm here and enjoyable and usually devoid of the typical Bay Area fog however Kentfield’s average rainfall of over 45 inches per year makes it one of the wettest places in the Bay Area.

Located about 15- 20 miles from San Francisco and the Golden Gate Bridge, Kentfield is a hop, skip and a jump to just about anywhere. Larkspur Landing ferry service is only a few minutes away off of Sir Frances Drake Blvd., the San Rafael Bridge to the East Bay is also just minutes away. Wine Country and other northern destinations are even closer here. Healdsburg, a popular weekend getaway is just 45 minutes to the north. For shopping the famous gourmet Woodlands is at the main intersection between Kentfield and Ross and Bon Air shopping Center in adjacent Greenbrae is just south off SFD and offers a multitude of shopping, and services.

Kentfield has several neighborhoods from the private, wooded style homes of Kent Woodlands where minimum lot sizes range from ½ acre to over 1 acre to the more modest sized lots on Kent Avenue where you can find some houses that date back to the late 1800′s. There is the Laurel Grove neighborhood located on the east side of SFD where homes and lots range from expensive to the very expensive gated and set back from the street with a range of architectural styles from mid-century to turn of the century. All of this while surrounded by beautiful and majestic Mt. Tamalpais.

The Kentfield Schools Foundation, which is a non-profit public organization committed to the educational support of Bacich and Kent Middle Schools is just one of the reasons to consider purchasing your home in Kentfield. There are many choices between both private and public schools in addition to The College of Marin School in Kentfield.

PUBLIC SCHOOLS IN KENTFIELD

There are two public school districts in Kentfield: The Kentfield School District for elementary and middle school, and the Tamalpais Union High School District, for high school students who attend Redwood High School located in the adjacent town of Larkspur.

Kentfield School District

Provides secondary education to the students from 10 elementary school districts in Marin County, which includes the Kentfield School District. The three high schools this district includes are all California Distinguished Schools. In addition there are two alternative schools.

Tamalpais Union High School District

Offers secondary school education to students advancing from ten elementary districts in Marin County. There are three comprehensive high schools as well as two alternative high schools within the Tamalpais Union High School District.


Anthony G. Bacich Elementary School

Grades: K-4
In 2006, Anthony G. Bacich Elementary School scored an API of 947 placing it in the top 10% of schools with a similar grade range in the state of California. It was also named a California Distinguished School.

A.E. Kent Middle School

Grades: 5-8
A.E. Kent Middle School has a 2006-07 API rating of 923. In 1990 and again in 1992, Kent Middle School was selected as a California Distinguished School.

Redwood High School

Grades 9-12
Redwood High School offers a college prep curriculum with Advanced Placement and Honors courses. In addition, a ROP program is offered. Students from Larkspur, Kentfield, Reed Schools and Ross School Districts attend here. Another California Distinguished School honor.Some noteworthy past students were: Robin Williams and Mayor Gavin Newsom.

Tamiscal High Alternative

A small independent high school with the Tamalpais Union High School District, Tamiscal Alternative offers a program to obtain a high school diploma but not necessarily courses to be admitted to a university.

Marin Catholic High School

Grades 9-12 Christian/Catholic
Marin Catholic is located on Sir Francis Drake between Greenbrae and Kentfield and is home to over 700 co-educational students. Honors courses and advanced placement courses are part of a curriculum that includes foreign language, religious and community service.
