The name means “beautiful view” and when you first glimpse Belvedere you will whole-heartedly agree. Known the world over, this picturesque town is considered one of the most exclusive in the Bay Area. The San Francisco Bay surrounds it on 3 sides providing glorious water views and dazzling City and Golden Gate vistas.

Belvedere is located approximately 15 to 20 minutes from the Golden Gate Bridge and San Francisco and is less than a few miles to the Tiburon Ferry.

Many of the homes in Belvedere are located directly on the water and have private boat docks. Some residents who buy here have been known to buy a boat as well due to the convenient proximity their locations allow. If you don’t buy a home with a private boat dock then the San Francisco Yacht Club in Belvedere as well as the Corinthian Yacht Club in adjacent Tiburon are a perfect option. In addition to these private clubs the Belvedere Sailing Society and social club is open to Belvedere residents for sailing as well.

Noted architects have designed homes here and some are historically significant dating back to the late 1800′s with clapboard style siding, veranda style porches overlooking the water.

Belvedere offers three distinct neighborhoods within the city limits: The first is Belvedere Island where many architectural styles are represented. The second is Corinthian Island, which feels more like being on the Island of Capri or Positano than the Bay Area. Windy, curvy streets one way and too narrow for more than one car have magnificent homes many of which are built right on the steep hillsides with astounding views. Third, is the Belvedere Lagoon area where homes look out onto the lagoon. Mid-century is the style predominates here with many homes having undergone recent renovations to include contemporary as well as Mediterranean styles.

Single Family homes in Belvedere can range from the low million dollar range to over 15 to 20 million with the median price being $2.5-$2.7m.
